Collecting more than 10,000 pieces of positioning data in a single day, the high-frequency positioning function provides strong support for scientific research work.

In early 2024, the high-frequency positioning wildlife tracker developed by Global Messenger was officially put into use and has achieved widespread application globally. It has successfully tracked a diverse range of wildlife species, including shorebirds, herons, and gulls. On May 11, 2024, a domestically deployed tracking device (model HQBG1206), weighing just 6 grams, successfully collected up to 101,667 location fixes within 95 days, averaging 45 fixes per hour. The collection of this massive amount of data not only provides researchers with an abundance of data resources but also paves new avenues for research in the field of wildlife tracking, highlighting the outstanding performance of Global Messenger’s devices in this area.
The wildlife tracker developed by Global Messenger can collect data once every minute, recording 10 location points in a single collection. It collects 14,400 location points in a day and incorporates a flight detection mechanism to identify the activity status of birds. When birds are in flight, the device automatically switches to a high-density positioning mode to accurately depict their flight paths. Conversely, when birds are foraging or resting, the device automatically adjusts to low-frequency sampling to reduce unnecessary data redundancy. Additionally, users can customize the sampling frequency based on actual conditions. The device also features a four-level intelligent frequency adjustment function that can real-time adjust the sampling frequency based on battery.

The high frequency of positioning imposes extremely strict requirements on the tracker’s battery life, data transmission efficiency, and data processing capabilities. Global Messenger has successfully extended the device’s battery life to over 8 years by adopting ultra-low power positioning technology, efficient 4G data transmission technology, and cloud computing technology. In addition, the company has built a “sky-ground integrated” big data platform to ensure that massive positioning data can be quickly and accurately transformed into valuable scientific research results and protection strategies.
