High-frequency positioning tracking devices aid researchers in studying birds global migration.

Recently, groundbreaking progress has been made in the overseas application of high-frequency positioning devices developed by Global Messenger. For the first time, successful tracking of the long-distance migration of the endangered species, the Australian Painted-snipe, has been achieved. Data shows that this Australian Snipe has migrated 2,253 kilometers since the device was deployed in January 2024. This finding is extremely significant for further exploring the migratory habits of this species and formulating appropriate conservation measures.

On April 27, an overseas research team successfully tracked the Bar-tailed Godwit using the HQBG1205 model, which weighs 5.7 grams, obtaining 30,510 migration data points and averaging 270 location updates per day. Additionally, 16 trackers deployed in Iceland achieved 100% successful tracking, confirming the high stability of Global Messenger’s new product in extreme environments.
